I am very much into technology, I work in an environment where I can learn and grow. I have become a big fan of iPod Apps. These are little “applications” or programs that run on iPod phones and iPod Touch (I have the touch). From games to social networking to just plain strange, these little apps are so fun! I am writing to say hello to all the stranded beach lovers who may come to see this blog from the messages in a bottle I send out. Hello!! I hope you find us as interesting as we think we are! ha! Please comment if you can!

Well we have only two bottles of our delicious Dandy Lion Wine left over from our summer team project, so we thought it would be time to try our hand at grape wine. Brad was busy this fall harvesting his grape vines and mashed them all up for one batch. We thought we would try out a grape concentrate version with the other batch. Last night Brad, Krisitin and I inverted sugar and got the fermentation started with the help of some wine yeast. Now we watch and wait…

You can’t make wine without staining everything purple!

The new website is up and running smoothly, the transition was tricky yet successful. We are now running Joomla! for our website and a couple Wordpress blogs for content. I would say it is delivering a healthy dose of change to our critical and detailed artist eyes! I hope you, the viewer, can find what you need easily and the information useful. Please email me if you find any errors in information or have comments about the site. Have fun!

The summer is over, and we had quite the variety of participants this year for Karlyn’s Washburn Workshops. It is always fast pased with looming dead lines, and this year our gallery welcomed new cast members. Brad, Kristin, Lydia, Megan and Kim were all newbies to our summer workshop season and each came through with their own stories to tell. Brad, our frame shop manager, along with Kristin, Doug and Kim were hard at work getting orders done before the workshoppers left for home at the end of the week. You have NO IDEA what these determined framers go though to get the job done. Simply amazing. Lydia, our new gallery manager and Karlyn’s very own workshop coordinator, showed with grace and charm that she can handle the staggering multitasking Karlyn’s Gallery is known for. We do it all, remember!
This year proved to be one of new spaces, as Karlyn moved her classroom out of the third story into the middle story, occuping the now “old frameshop”. The framers made a hasty move this spring into the newly finished ground level and are looking forward to a winter of reorganizing and perfecting the new frame shop. As far as the copy shop upstairs goes, I now have the proper space for all my job duties. It is wonderful to have countertop space as well as a full wall to display all the standard sized prints I offer to our artists. Did I mention the new Canon imagePRESS C1 printer we got in May? Oh you should see the quality this machine is known for! It’s practically offset printing at a fraction of the cost (and no minimum quantity required!!) It is a perfect mate to our Epson Professional Giclee printer. Didn’t I mention we can do it all?
What’s next for this ever evolving entity? Rumor has it Karlyn is starting a new book…
